1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of the Expense Keeper mobile application ("the app"), operated by Bhupendra Singh Rana, an individual based in Pune, Maharashtra, India ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What the app is
Expense Keeper is a personal finance tool that reads transaction SMS on your device and organises them into an expense record. It is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any bank, card issuer, or wallet provider. It does not connect to your bank account, and it cannot move money.
3. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use the app only on a device you own or control, with SMS you are entitled to access.
- Do not use the app for any unlawful purpose.
- Keep your device secure. Because your data lives on your device, anyone with access to your unlocked phone may be able to see it.
5. Cloud Backup — the paid feature
Expense Keeper is free to use. Cloud Backup is an optional one-time in-app purchase of ₹599 (inclusive of applicable taxes) that unlocks automatic encrypted backup of your app data to your own Google Drive, one-tap restore on a new device, and priority email support.
Cloud Backup is sold through Google Play as a one-time purchase. You are charged once, at the point you choose to enable it. It does not auto-renew, and there is no recurring charge or subscription to cancel. The purchase is tied to your Google account and can be restored on your other devices signed in to that account. We may change the price for future purchasers; this will never re-charge you. Refunds are described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Cloud Backup depends on Google Drive remaining available to your account. If we ever discontinue the feature, we will give reasonable notice and you will still be able to export your data using the app's free manual backup.
6. Privacy
The app processes your data on your device. We operate no servers and do not receive your messages or transactions. See our Privacy Policy for full detail, including the optional Google Drive backup.
7. Accuracy — important
Expense Keeper reads SMS automatically and may misread, miscategorise, or miss a transaction — for example if a bank changes its message format. The app is a convenience tool, not a system of record and not financial advice. Always treat your bank's own statements as authoritative and verify anything important before relying on it.
8. Availability
We may update, change, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features that depend on third parties (such as Google Drive or Google Play) depend on those services remaining available.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or savings, arising from your use of the app. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which is zero if you use the free version).
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
11. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your licence if you materially breach these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Pune, Maharashtra, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised Terms. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
